In broad stokes these are the areas that google is focusing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge Graph: Things not strings. Knowing what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s really behind a query.<\/li>\n<li>Voice Search: Getting better and better<\/li>\n<li>Conversational Search: Think pronouns, dereference the pronouns by maintaining an episodic memory during a conversational session<\/li>\n<li>Google Now: looking steps ahead where people may not even be querying<\/li>\n<li>Deep learning: Thousands of computers being used to learn neural networks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More about <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Google_Hummingbird\" target=\"_blank\">hummingbird<\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Core quality changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hummingbird: If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re doing a query, it might be a natural language query, and it might include words you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153What is the capital of everlovin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Texas?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hummingbird is a step in the direction to figure out the words that matter more and give those words more intelligent scoring. There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a lot being written about Hummingbird and the fact is it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t affect SEO. It makes the results of long-tail and specific queries much better.<\/li>\n<li>Panda softening: There are always those grey-zone sites in Panda\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s targets and some new signals they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve added are meant to ease up on those sites.<\/li>\n<li>Detecting\/boosting authorities: If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re a topical authority, keep deepening that content.<\/li>\n<li>Smartphone ranking: If a searcher has a phone that doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t do Flash, Google is less likely to deliver results with Flash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Future trends of search include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Machine learning: Google will keep trying to figure out how to add more value to searchers<\/li>\n<li>Mobile: In 2011, YouTube had 6% of traffic from mobile phones. In 2012 it was 25% and in 2014 mobile is expected to be 40% of YouTube\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s traffic. If you haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t figured out your strategy for mobile, you better be thinking about it.<\/li>\n<li>Social\/identity\/authorship: Knowing who you are and identity can make a big difference. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a long-term signal that you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re a person people listen to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>Treat search engine as another person if you show authority and ownership of content people will listen and so will search engine. &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/ssusarla\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Content optimization trends for future<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Social Content: This plays front and center of search engine indexing.
